Catch & Release Statistics
The Shark Angling Club of Great Britain have maintained records of sharks since the club was founded in 1953. In an effort to further promote the sharking communities desire for increased conservation, in 1994 the club formally adopted a policy of catch and release of all sharks.
Each year the skippers from the port of Looe have maintained a record of the number of sharks caught and within that number, the number of full membership qualifying size.
The table below gives this data.
Although the SACGB do not have complete data sets for other ports, in recent years a similar trend has been experienced by sharking skippers at many ports around the UK.
